AT-KABUL: Kabul Municipality signed four contracts with private firms, based on which, the private sector would take over the road building and city cleaning.
Abdul Habibzai, acting mayor of Kabul said that the projects include the construction of 111 km road for bus system, training of cadres, designing of 20 km roads, sustainable management of surface water, greenery of Kabul, and designing of multistory buildings.
He added that traffic problem would be solved and public transportation would get facilitated.
He added that the Kabul River and its outskirts would be cleaned and rain waters on the road will be controlled. “It will provide job opportunities for the people.”
Some Kabul dwellers say that Kabul Municipality had failed in its works in the past 14 years. Lacking of canalization for existence of raining water has been a great another challenge as hundreds kilo meters of reconstructed roads are damaged due to this negligence annually.
