AT-KABUL: A key commander for the Taliban was arrested by the security forces along the Baghlan highway, officials said Tuesday.
“Afghan National Police arrested a senior commander of the Taliban group with his three companions along the Kabul-Baghlan highway,” Ministry of Interior said in a statement.
The statement did not identify the arrested people, but said they were travelling secretly from Chahar Dara district of Kunduz province to Kabul.
The statement said that the group was involved in many terrorist and destructive activities in Chahar Dara and other areas of Kuduz province.
The Afghan National Police encourages all citizens to report suspicious activities and criminal acts by dialing 119 in order to foster stability in the country.
