AT-KABUL: In a well-coordinated military operation the Afghan forces have successfully cleared the Khak-e-Safid district of western Farah province from Taliban and destroyed their main hideouts, security officials said.
Afghan national army with the cooperation of the national police launched a 10-day crackdown against insurgents in Khak-e-Safid district of Farah province and cleared different villages of the district of Taliban, interior ministry said in a statement.
The statement said that 51 Taliban fighters were killed and 63 others were wounded during operation in the district.
Taliban’s 13 military vehicles and some ammunition were also destroyed in the operation, statement added.
Key members of Taliban were killed or wounded in the crackdown who were playing important role in insecurity of the district.
Khak-e-Safid district of Farah province is one of the volatile district, where Taliban mane times had launched a large scale attacks and even one year ago overrun most part of the district for few days.
