By Farhad Naibkhel-KABUL: The Islamic Party of Afghanistan (Hezb-e-Islami Afghanistan) delegation arrived in Kabul to set the date of finalizing the peace agreement with the government.
Habibur Rahman Hekmatyar, son of HIA leader Gulbuddin Hekmatyar said on his Facebook page the negotiation had been finalized “with the government of Afghanistan”.
He said that the party was ready to sign the peace agreement with government, but it postponed due to some challenges.
Currently, the government of seems to sign the agreement with the HIA.
In order to end war immediately forever and reach a justly peace in the country, the HIA party started negotiations with government, Hekmatyar the junior added.
The HIA leader nodded to join the peace process some three months ago and started negotiations with the government. The government welcomed the preparedness of Hekmatyar for peace parleys.
After a long negotiation, both sides agreed for a draft which was handed over to President Ashraf Ghani and HIA party for further discussion.
The HIA had set different condition including removal of the party members name from UN black lists, freed of HIA members from prisons and transferring of Afghan refugees from Pakistan.
Afghan government, the peace council and the HIA also have been reached to agreement over several issues including accept of constitution during recent long term negotiation.
Most of Afghan people welcomed the negotiation with HIA party and they are optimism that joining of this Party will positively impact over stability in the country.
The HIA has been involved in armed resistance against various regimes in Kabul including the government of Mohammad Dawoud, the first democratic president of Afghanistan, People’s Democratic Party of Afghanistan (PDA), the mujahedeen government led by former president Burhanuddin Rabbani and the Taliban regime. This party also was fighting against foreigners after collapse of Taliban regime in different part of Afghanistan.
Despite hared struggle Afghanistan Times failed to get comment from High Peace Council in the aspect.
