AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Since the northern district of Dahana-e-Ghori fell to the Taliban insurgents, the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) expressed preparations to retake control of the lost district, provincial officials said on Tuesday.
The operation would be carried in Dahana-e-Ghori and Baghlan-e-Markazi district in near future, the officials said.
“Additional forces besides provincial security forces have already arrived in the area. They (security forces) are on full swing to carry a large scale military operation to retake the district,” provincial police spokesman Ahmad Jawed Basharat said.
He added that fierce fighting is underway in some areas of Baghlan-e-Markazi district.
This comes after tens of the Taliban insurgents attacked the Dahana-e-Ghori district from neighboring provinces around one week ago and after days of siege, the district fell to them (Taliban) last night, Mahmoud Haqmal spokesman for Baghlan province said.
He added that security forces retreated “tactically” from the dstrict, but now are preparing to recapture the district.
Moreover he said that Taliban insurgents attacked Baghlan-e-Markazi district three days ago but have not yet captured it.
It is worth mentioning that the Taliban terrorist group has escalated attacks in different parts of the country.
