AT-KABUL: Eighty-nine Taliban insurgents were killed and 15 others injured in different parts of the country in the past 24 hours, Ministry of Defense (MoD) said Tuesday in a statement.
The statement added that the national army with the cooperation of the national police and the national directorate of security conducted military operations against insurgents in different areas of Baghlan, Nangarhar, Takhar, Kunduz, Helmand, Ghazni and Wardak, provinces.
“As the result, 89 insurgents including five commanders were killed, and fifteen others wounded,” it said.
“Unfortunately, five soldiers were also killed in the operation.”
Separately, 50 Taliban insurgents including shadow governor for Ghor province were killed an airstrike in Pashton Kot distract of northern Faryab province, ministry of interior said in a statement.
The statement added the shadow governor insurgents was identified as Mullah Ahmad he was involved in different terrorist activities in the province.
Statement mentioned that also, one vehicle, one machine gun and some amount of light and heavy rounds of ammunition destroyed as well.
