50 killed in different operations

KABUL: At least fifty Taliban insurgents were killed and 22 injured in different joint clearance operations carried by security forces, within past 24 hours, security officials said on Sunday.

In addition to that, eight militants including four insurgent loyal to (Islamic State), which is also known as Daesh were detained in the operation.

In a statement issued here, the Ministry of Defense (MoD), said that the Afghan National Army in collaboration with Afghan National Police and National Directorate of Security operatives had conducted a joint operations against insurgents in different district of Paktia, Kandahar, Zabul, Herat, Farah, Takhar, Baghlan, Kunduz, Jowzjan, and Helmand provinces, in which 50 Taliban insurgents including seven commanders were killed, and 22 others wounded.

Unfortunately, eight soldiers were also killed during the clash, statement added.

Separately, the National Directorate of Security (NDS), on Sunday said that its operatives arrested eight Taliban insurgents including four loyalists to Daesh terrorist group in eastern Nangarhar province.

A statement issued here by NDS, said a terrorist—identified as Asami Abdul Rahman who was responsible for transferring Daesh fighters to the Kot district, was arrested along three others in the province.

Four commanders of Taliban insurgents—identified as Abdul Razaq S/O Malang, Shir Mohammad S/O Abdul, Zai-ul-Haq S/O Hazrat Mohammad and Zakir S/O Juma Khan are among those arrested, the statement added.

According to statement,the captured rebels were tasked by Amine-ul-Haq the commander of the group to carry terrorist activities in different part of the province.

This comes as local officials in the province earlier said militants fighting under Daesh flag are mostly Pakistani citizens.

Recently, two Pakistani women, loyal to the Islamic State known as Daesh, were arrested in eastern Nangarhar province, officials said, as they were transferring classified documents to the group.

The seized documents contained information how to make explosive devices and other weapons. There is no denying to the fact that Pakistan intelligence agency is making all out efforts to strengthen the foothold of Daesh group in Afghanistan. The arrest of two Pakistani women, loyal to Daesh is the clear indication of Pakistan’s support to the group. The Afghan officials always pointed out blame finger toward Pakistan and its role for igniting war in Afghanistan. It is also proved that Pakistan providing safe hideouts to the Taliban, as all high-profile Taliban leaders were killed there.

It is worth mentioning that militants loyal to Daesh insurgents had made last-ditch efforts to turn two districts of Nangarhar—Kot and Achin as their stronghold, but the Afghan security through air and ground operations flushed out the Daesh insurgents from the districts.
