AT-KABUL: The United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) has handed over 30 ambulances to the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH), officials said on Tuesday.
In a press statement issued her, the MoPH said that each ambulance worth $32,000 provided by the UNCIEF, and the ambulances would be transferred to those provinces that needs more public services.
While expressing appreciationon the handover ceremony, the Public Health Minister, Ferozuddin Feroz, said that the ambulances would strengthen the referral system and also plays a vital role in timely transfer of sick and injured people to the medical care centers.
He said that ambulances in most incidents are able to prevent further human casualties, especially in Kabul, the capital city.
“We want to expand the experience of Kabul ambulance to other provinces in other to improve ambulance services in all provinces of the country in the near future, he said, adding that Saudi Arabia would also provide 32 new ambulances based on the ministry request.
Meanwhile, Makhdum Muhibullaha senate and the representative of UNCIEF Dr. Sharin while lauded the efforts of the MoPH to develop and improve health services, they said that the ambulance services would possibly reduce human losses.
