Four terror groups busted

AT-KABUL: Nearly hundreds of the Taliban militants were killed and twenty-four others wounded in different operations across the country within past 24 hours, security officials said on Wednesday.

In a statement issued here, the Ministry of Defense (MoD), said that the Afghan National Army in collaboration with Afghan National Police and National Directorate of Security operatives had conducted a joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Ghazni, Paktia, Kandahar, Zabul, Takhar, Baghlan, Kunduz, Sar-i-Pul, Jowzjan, Balkh and Helmand provinces, in which 97 insurgents were killed and 24 others injured. In addition to that, three insurgents were arrested during the raids.

Unfortunately, twelve soldiers were also killed during clashes, the statement lamented.

Separately, four terrorist networks were busted in the southern Kandahar province, National Directorate of Security (NDS) said in a statement on Wednesday.

“Intelligence operatives arrested twenty-one insurgents of four different groups, belonged to a Quetta Shura based network,” the statement added.

The insurgents were involved in plotting and coordinating suicide attacks, assassination of tribal and influential elders, and attack on convoys in the capital of the province, the statement added.

It furthered that the operatives prevented a bloody incident in the province through busting this network.

The detained terrorists in the primary investigation confessed that they received necessary terrorist trainings in Pakistan, the statement asserted.

The arrest comes after the local officials for long time hasshowed concerns over the strongholds of the Taliban militants, and the Haqqani network leadership councils in Pakistani soil.

The leaders said that the two terrorist groups are having leadership councils based in both Quetta and Peshawar cities of Pakistan, where they design attacks and carry out in Afghanistan, aimed to destabilize security situation of the country.

Form other side, the Interior Counter-Narcotic Forces (ICNF) on Wednesday said that its operatives destroyed three heroin factories of insurgent in different part of the country, the ministry said in a statement.

“2,086 kg opium, 22 nushadir ammonia, 81 kg hashish were sized form two smuggler in Badakhshan and Nangarhar provinces. Moreover, three factories of the insurgents were also destroyed in provinces,” the statement said.

Fierce fighting between police and armed smugglers were lasted for 30-minuties, where finally the police forces destroyed three heroin factories. However smugglers managed to escape the scene, the statement added.
