AT-KABUL: At least eighty Taliban insurgents were killed and fifty-four others wounded in different operations launched by the security forces within the past 24 hours across the county, security officials said on Sunday.
“The national army with the cooperation of the national police and the national directorate of security operatives, conducted clearance operations against insurgents in different districts of Nangarhar, Kunar, Ghazni, Paktia, Paktika, Logar, Khost, Kandahar, Uruzgan, Ghor, Herat, Farah, Takhar, Baghlan, Kunduz, Sar-i-Pul, Jowzjan, and Helmand provinces,” the defense ministry said in a statement.
“In these operations, 80 insurgents including three commanders were killed and 54 others injured,” it said.
According to statement three insurgents were detained during the operation.
“Unfortunately, seven soldiers were also killed during the clashes.”
Separately, the National Directorate of Security (NDS) said on Sunday that its operatives killed a group of eight Taliban insurgents in capital Kabul province.
It said the operation was launched in the Qarabagh district of Kabul late on Saturday.
District administrative chief Samiullah Sharifi confirmed the report and said eight Taliban insurgents including three commanders were killed and a rebel detained during the operation.
The group has managed to carry out deadly attacks in the capital, early this month the Taliban insurgents carry out deadly attacks near the entrance of the Ministry of Defense (MoD) in capital Kabul.
Which at least 35 people killed, more than 100 wounded, mostly civilians in a series of suicide attacks in Kabul.
