AT-KABUL: At least 56 militants loyal to the Islamic State, known as Daesh, were killed during joint clearing operations lunched by security forces and international forces in eastern Nangarhar province, local official said Tuesday.
The provincial police spokesman Hazrat Hussain Mashreqiwal said the terrorists were killed in Pikhe-Khwar area of Achin district.
“Several foreign terrorists were among them and some ammunition was also seized during the operation,” he said.
“Security forces and civilians were not harmed during the operations.”
The security forces as well as the US forces are regularly conducting counter-terrorism operations to root out the loyalists of Daesh terrorists who are attempting to expand foothold in the country.
Earlier last week, at least 13 people including civilians were killed and 14 others wounded in a drone strike that targeted insurgents belonging to Daesh terrorist in Shadal Bazaar area of Achin district in Nangarhar.
The Daesh terrorist group has not commented regarding the report.
