AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: A senior Pakistani politician and chairman of the Qaumi Watan Party Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao called on Pakistani officials to start a dialogue process with Afghanistan aimed at eliminating trust-deficit between the two countries.
“Pakistan should start a dialogue with Afghanistan at various levels to help remove trust-deficit between them,” Sherpao expressed these views addressing a gathering in Shahpur area of Shangla district of northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinceon.
“We have served our Afghan brothers for decades and now enemies of Pakhtuns and Pakistan are in a bid to sabotage this service and hospitality. We have cultural, social and religious ties with the tribal people and people of Afghanistan,” he stressed.
Sherpao promised his party would continue to raise voice for the rights and development of Pakhtuns at every forum. He also highlighted the need for uniting the Pakhtuns to ensure progress in the region.
About India-Pakistan tensions, he said, the war was no solution to any problem and asked the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to refrain from provocative remarks against Pakistan.
Tension between Afghanistan and Pakistan has reached at its boiling point as Kabul boycotted summit of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) to be held in Islamabad.
Half of the SAARAC members also boycotted the summit, accusing Pakistan (the host country of this time summit) not sincere in fight against terrorism.
