AT-KABUL: Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS) on Saturday called the ongoing year as the most challenged for the organization as one million people were displaced due to conflicts across the country.
“These people fled their houses in the provinces of Kunduz, Helmand, Ghazni, Farah, Uruzgan and Paktia,” said acting head of the ARCS, Mirwais Akram.
Speaking at celebration of the ARCS’ week, Akram said that this year was the most challenged year for ARCS in supplying relief to the needy people, because a great number of families were displaced.
The ARCS exerts utmost efforts to help the needy displaced people as much as possible, he added.
The ARCS disaster management director, Abdul Rahman Kalantary, said that only the ARCS would not be able to help all the displaced people across the country, asking the other relevant organs to help the ARCS.
Coordination was boosted among humanitarian aid workers and organizations in order to help displaced people in a better manner in the country, he claimed.
“To date, the ARCS has helped 15,000 displaced families throughout the country,” Kalantary said.
“The ARCS is prepared in different provinces to quickly respond to affected people during winter.”
He stated that military operation and conflicts can be a challenge before aid workers.
He requested all involved groups of conflict to help the aid workers and let them to respond quickly to needy and affected people across the country.
