AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: A top government official called on the leaders of the National Unity Government (NUG) to choose the right way, otherwise, the people would seek an alternative to the NUG.
Ahmad Zia Massoud, the president’s special representative on reforms and good governance during his visit to Estalif district in Kabul, said that the NUG leaders are not taking important the lives of thousands of security forces. “Division in the government appears more important for the leaders than the lives of security forces.”
“The current political rift is not acceptable to the people. People are also waiting for them to end their disagreements in the near future, otherwise, they will seek an alternative for the NUG,” TOLO News quoted Massoud, as saying. Hinting to the insurgency, he called on the people to take a firm stance against insurgents.
“Militants will take control of large parts of the country, if rifts between the two leaders—President Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Abdullah Abdullah is not ended,” he warned.
Moreover, he said that the presence of first vice president Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum on the battleground shows the weakness of the security organizations.
“Dostum goes to Faryab and fights, he does not want to go to the battlefields, but he knows that the people who lead the battles are weak,” Massoud said.
“Without bringing reforms in government departments, it is difficult to keep security.”
Likewise, he called on former Mujahidin and political leaders to stay alert and defend their villages, district and provinces.
Meanwhile, a number of Estalif residents said that alongside reconstruction, they want government to maintain security and help them to improve their lives.
“Livestock and gardening, especially grapes could be beneficial for addressing economic needs of Estalif people,” TOLO News quoted Ghulam Haidar, head of Takht Estalif clinic, as saying.
Recently, when Masoud was in Panjshir, he indirectly blamed the government for fueling discrimination among Afghan masses.
“It benefits nothing that today I am in the government and hire all Tajik tribes in the government posts. This trend creates consequences,” he added.
He furthered, “It also brings no good if our Pashtun brothers who are on top government posts, fill all government positions of Pashtun tribes.”
Moreover, first vice president Gen. Abdul Rashid Dostum also blamed President Ashraf Ghani and Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah for fueling discrimination among Afghan people.
In a briefing in northern Jawzjan province, Dostum said that President Ghani is happy when someone who speaks Pashto language, especially with Logari accent.
Furthermore, Dostum called Abdullah “a weak person” saying, he (Abdullah) lacks good fame among Afghan people.
