President Ghani, CEO Abdullah condemned terrorist attack; Daesh claims responsibility
AT-KABUL: At least five people were killed and eleven others wounded after a suicide bomber on Wednesday targeted VIP protection unit vehicle in Pul-e-Mahmood Khan area of Kabul city,a security official told Afghanistan Times on the condition of anonymity.
Ministry of Interior Spokesman, Seddiq Seddiqi, said that a suicide attacker targeted a vehicle belonged to the security organ at around 8:00am in the Pul-e-Mahmood Khan area in PD 2.
Moreover, Kabul Criminal and Investigation Department Chief, Farid Obaidi, confirmed the attack, saying 11 people were wounded in the incident.
Condemning the terrorist attack President Ashraf Ghani said that the enemies of the people of Afghanistan martyred a number of our compatriots by carrying out a terrorist attack in Kabul City Wednesday morning.
He added that, terrorist groups, to spread fear and disrupt security of the people of Afghanistan, target sacred and publicly-beneficial sites, travelers as well as the true sons and daughters of this country who strive day and night to provide security for our citizens.
President Ghani said that terrorists cannot achieve the goals of their masters by spreading fear and criminality as the people of Afghanistan despise them, and the National Security and Defense Forces will fight and stand against them with courage and bravery.
He offered his condolences and sympathies to the families of those martyred, and prays to Almighty Allah to gran full recovery to those wounded in today’s attack.
Furthermore, the Chief Executive, Abdullah Abdullah has strongly slammed Kabul attack. “I condemn the suicide attack that targeted local civilians in Kabul Wednesday morning. “Enemies of peace once again showed their real face,” he said in his twitter post.
The Islamic State, which is also known as Daesh terrorist has claimed Kabul attack which took place early at the Wednesday morning.
“The martyred brother Talha al-Khorsani was able to infiltrate a bus transporting elements from the apostate Afghani intelligence and detonated his explosive vest,” IS said in a statement posted on social media.
