AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Taliban fighters are sending their families under the names of refugees returning home, the interior ministry said Sunday.
“We are worried about such conspiracies, plans and we try to prevent Taliban families from entering the country under the names to refugees,” said the ministry spokesperson Sediq Sediqqi, calling it a “plan” organized by the Pakistani intelligence.
Meanwhile, ministry of refugees and repatriation called using the refugees for political and military purposes against international migration laws and human rights.
“Using the refugees for military, security and political purposes is against migration and human rights laws and it should be stopped,” said Hafiz Ahmad Miakhel, the ministry’s media advisor.
He added intelligence departments should identify Taliban families at the border and stop them from entering to the country.
“Intelligence committee exists on the border alongside other committees and it should pursue the issue seriously,” said Mehr Khuda Sabar, an official in the ministry.
Nearly 60 percent of returned refugees from Pakistan have been settled in eastern parts of the country. But the number of suspected Taliban families in the areas has raised serious concerns.
“If around 100 to 200 Taliban families would be settled in every district and they will draw the people to themselves, fighting with Taliban will be difficult,” said Abdul Wadood Paiman, a parliament member.
Nearly 985,000 refugees returned to the country and out of them 610,000 came from Pakistan in this year.
On the other hand, deputy parliament speaker, Zahir Qadir, claimed this was a Daesh plan to send people into Afghan soil. He warned that the Daesh terrorist group planned to settle families in different districts of the eastern province of Nangarhar, bordering Pakistan.
