AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: A prominent commander of the Daesh terrorist group also known as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS), was killed during a clash with the security forces in Darzab district of northern Jawzjan province, an official said Sunday.
Rahmatullah Hashar, the district administrative confirmed the death of “a senior Daesh leader”, saying “the terrorist was killed after launching an attack on a security checkpoint in the district.”
“The leader was identified as Mohammad Nasir and two other terrorists were wounded during the clash,” he said.
Hashar added additional forces had been sent to the area to repulse the attack.
The terrorist group has not commented regarding the report.
This comes as the first vice president General Abdul Rashid Dostum had said in earlier October that the Daesh terrorist group planned to deploy at least 7,000 fighters in different parts of the northern country.
Gen. Dostum made the remarks upon his arrival in adjacent Faryab province to supervise counter-terrorism operations following the fall of Ghormach district to Taliban fighters.
He said the terrorist group was attempting to deploy foreign militants mainly citizens of Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Chechnya.
