By Mansoor Faizy-KABUL: At least 30 people were martyred and more than 80 others received injuries in twin Taliban bomb blasts in capital Kabul. The attacks were carried out one after another in Police District 7th on the Darul Aman Road, not far from the parliament building, officials said.
Wahidullah Majroh, spokesman of the ministry of public health said that 30 people were martyred and 80 others received injuries.
Security officials said that the incident occurred just around 04:00 pm near the parliament buildings.
“Two Taliban suicide bombers detonated their explosives on the main road of Darul Aman,” Baser Mujahid, Kabul Police Spokesman said. “A large number of people were killed and wounded,” he added.
He furthered that the first bomb exploded by an attacker on foot and the second one was a car bombing. Without giving exact number, he confirmed that some security forces were also among those killed and wounded in the attacks.
He also confirmed the death and injury of a number of civilians in the attacks. “A public transportation bus of a private company, carrying civilians were destroyed in the attacks, likely resulted into civilian casualties.”
Some source reported that a female lawmaker from Herat province was also among those wounded in the attack.
Soon after the blast, the Taliban insurgents claimed responsibility for the Kabul attacks.
“70 security forces were killed and wounded,” the Taliban Spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid claimed in a statement.
The NATO-led Resolute Support mission condemned the attacks.
