By Mansoor Faizy-KABUL: Blaming Afghanistan for supporting terrorist outfits is not realistic, rather it is a move in order to divert minds, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Abdullah Abdullah said today, while calling on regional countries for honest cooperation in war on terror.
Abdullah in a gathering in Kabul to mark the 22nd martyrdom anniversary of the former leader of the Hezb-e-Wahdat Islmai, Abdul Ali Mazari, said that the National Unity Government (NUG) is ready to cooperate in counter terrorism efforts.
“Afghanistan had always been stand ready to cooperate in areas of counter-terrorism, and reciprocally wants cooperation on the menace,” the CEO said, adding that Afghanistan has never supported any terrorist group at any time and condition, and would never do so.
“Afghanistan has never put weight behind any terrorist groups, and ‘there is no distinction’ between them as they (insurgents) are the enemies of humanity and Islam,” he said, while calling on the regional countries—without naming anyone—to reconsider their policy of fighting insurgency.
He furthered, “Those killing civilians and spreading terror in the name of Islam, in the real scenes are the enemies of Islam and humankind.”
“The Afghan people have rendered huge scarcities in fight against insurgency, and at the same time it is our commitment to our neighboring countries that Afghanistan is ready for cooperation and also to receive cooperation in war against terrorism,” he added. “Accusing Afghanistan would not lead to anywhere.”
This comes as on Thursday, the protestors called on the United Nations to include Pakistan’s name in its black list for its crime of supporting terrorism.
Hundreds of Kabul residents including politicians and civil society activists took out to the streets to give vent to their anger against Pakistan for its continuing support to the militancy, and the recent shelling on resident areas in eastern parts of the country.
Despite chanting anti-Pakistan slogans, they called on International Community to include Pakistan’s name in the United Nations black list for its support and harboring terrorists, and don’t let Islamabad to go unpunished for its crime against humanity.
