AT-KABUL: Ten police officers and a woman were killed after gunmen opened fire at them outside a mosque in the northern province of Jawzjan, local officials said Saturday.
The incident took place late Friday in Sardar village of the Darzab district when the officers were coming out of a mosque after the evening prayer, provincial spokesman, Mohammad Reza Ghafoori said.
He blamed the newly emerged Daesh terrorist group for the shooting, saying that the wife of an officer who arrived at the scene after learning of her husband’s killing was also shot dead.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, however, said on Twitter that their militants killed police officers in Darzab and captured the village.
