AT-KABUL: At least 66 militants were killed and 39 others were wounded in different operations launched by the security forces within past 24 hours, security officials said Sunday.
In a press release issued here, Ministry of Defense, (MoD) said that Afghan National Army (ANA) with the cooperation of the Afghan National Police (ANP) and National Directorate of Security (NDS) conducted joint operations against insurgents in different areas of Nangarhar , Laghman , Kapisa , Paktia , Uruzgan , Kandahar , Farah , Herat , Takhar , Baghlan , Kunduz and Helmand provinces.
Statement said that in these operations, 66 insurgents including 18 fighters loyal to Daesh were killed and 39 others including a Taliban commander were injured.
“The joined operations of the Defense and Security Forces were supported by the artillery and air forces,” added statement.
The ANA discovered and confiscated weapons and ammunition in the operations as well.
