Achakzai suggested ‘International Pashtun Conference’ to highlight problems of ‘Lar o Bar’ Afghan.
AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Head of Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP) in his latest appearance to the media had come hard against Pakistan and said that if Pakistan shun interfering into Afghanistan’s internal affairs, more than 70 percent security and stability would be restored in the country.
Achakzai, in an interview with BBC, said that peace and stability in the region would remain a dream if the policy of non-acceptance to the sovereignty and integrity of Afghanistan by its neighboring countries persist. “This trend definitely created hurdles for their good neighborhood and friendship.”
He furthered, “Pakistan currently is moving in wrong direction and its ongoing foreign policies have zero-support of its Parliament and general masses.” According to him, the foreign policy of the country has been hijacked by certain institutions, which mostly engaged in exporting terrorism, aimed at achieving strategic goals in Afghanistan.
“The policy of non-interference in internal affairs of Afghanistan could help country in several ways, especially in areas of bringing Kabul as a friend of Islamabad.”
Moreover, he pointed out that Afghanistan was turned as a battlefield by the big wings of the world, which had been ruined the country. “Following the worst consequences of the great games in Afghanistan, it’s the responsibility of the International Community to bring back peace, stability, infrastructure and national integrity to Afghanistan.”
Shedding light on the merger of FATA into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said, “It is a wrong and unconstitutional decision, taken by the Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif, stressing on the historically autonomous status of FATA.” Moreover, he informed of lack of support by the majority of local people over the merger. He suggested that the draconian law of the Frontier Crimes Regulation (FCR), and British-made political system could be replaced through a separate governor for FATA, maintaining its autonomous status.
Regarding profiling Pashtuns, Achakzai came hard on Pakistan and criticized the barbaric act that has been conducted by the Punjab’s government against innocent Pashtuns and Afghan refugees. Showing his strong stance against the current discrimination against Pashtun, he said, “We would go to every length, including resignations from the Parliament, if the illegal crackdowns against Pashtuns—which is a clear violation to the existing constitution of Pakistan, are continued.”
He warned against taking Pashtuns as second class citizens and continuation of harsh treatment by state institutions in Pakistan. “If Pakistan stood in its policy of discrimination, we will not accept the country by any ways and means.”
He added, “Pashtuns have been facing a lot of problems and their enemies are struggling worldwide to project their grey image by introducing “this noble and historic and peace loving nation” as a religious extremists and the supporter of the terrorist outfits.”
He added that Pashtuns are ‘not terrorists by origin and culture’, terrorism and man-made religious fundamentalism are being imposed on them.
He emphasized on an ‘International Pashtun Conference’ in a bid to search out for a collective wisdom and possible solutions to the current conspiracies and problems being faced by the ‘Lar o Bar’ Afghans.
He further went on saying, “Pashtuns are peace loving people’ and not willing to fight against anyone. We would not let anyone to shape our motherland as a battlefield for their proxies.”
