AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: 17 fighters loyal to the Islamic State (IS), aka, Daesh terrorist group have been killed during US drone raids in eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Wednesday.
Provincial governor spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, told Pajhwok Afghan News that American forces conducted airstrikes in the Pikhey and Maman Dari areas of Achin district on Tuesday night.
He added that 17 Daesh militants were killed during the drone attack and their weapons have been destroyed. “The slain militants are foreigners,” the spokesman said, without revealing their identities.
However, he said that most of the Daesh fighters that are active in the area were Pakistani nationals. He informed that no civilians and security force was sustained casualty during attack. Daesh terrorist group have not commented into the incident so far.
This comes as at least 189 fighters loyal to the Daesh terrorist were killed and 61 others wounded during operation carried out by the security forces in the past four weeks in eastern Nangarhar province.
Security officials in that time said that these fighters were killed and wounded in Haska Meena and Kot districts during air and ground operations conducted by army forces. A large ammunition cache of Daesh terrorists was also destroyed in the area.
