AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Eight militants and a policeman have been killed during separate incidents of violence in Logar province, an official said on Saturday.
While confirmed the news, the provincial governor spokesman, Salim Saleh said that the incident took place after two armed militants stormed a police checkpoint in Kandahari Pul area of the Mohammad Agha district late Friday night.
“The attackers, riding a motorbike, killed the check-post commander, Mohammad Halim,” Saleh told Pajhwok Afghan News, adding that the assailants managed to escape. Police are looking for the attackers.
In the meantime, Afghan security forces carried out air and ground operation against Taliban insurgents in Charkh district of the same province. During the operation a compound came under attack in Maulana Sahib area. The compound was targeted when a gathering of Taliban fighters was in progress.
Saleh added, “eight militants were killed and three others wounded in the overnight raid. A car and two motorcycles belonging to the Taliban insurgents were also destroyed in the incident.”
Syed Gulab Shah, a resident of the locality, confirmed to local media that security forces bombed a house last night. He said the house has destroyed and all insurgents living there have been killed in the incident.
Charkh is an insecure district of Logar, located 26 kilometers south of Pul-I-Alam, the provincial capital. Same days back, 14 people including civilians were killed during a clash in the Baraki-Barak district of Logar.
