By Farhad Naibkhel-KBAUL: Wolesi Jirga (Lower House) of parliament on Monday summoned ministers of defense and interior as well as director of the national directorate of security to brief regarding attack on military hospital in Kabul and ramp up security across the country.
Though, security officials failed to satisfy parliamentarians with their answers, but were saved from disqualification.
Members of parliament criticized the security authorities for mismanagement and insufficiency, calling them as main factors behind hike of insecurity caused the attack on Sardar Dawod Khan, a military hospital in Kabul.
Parliamentarians also pointed to speech of Head of the Office of Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR), John Sopko regarding corruption and mismanagement, which is the main factor behind failure of security forces in Afghanistan.
The lawmakers also asked security officials to brief about existence of ghost soldiers and selling fuel, food and even weapons of the Afghan forces to the Taliban insurgents by commanders.
“23 employees including neglector and suspect from soldier to General ranking were introduced to judiciary organs in connection to attack over military hospital,” Minister of Defense, Abdullah Habibi told Wolesi Jirga. He said that those who are guilty will be punished strictly.
Hinting toward mounting of insecurity, Minister of Defense said that enemy was defeated last year, and all preparation is on card to defeat them this year as well.
He said that the ongoing war is a regional war, so we need all people support to win this.
Confirming existence of corruption in army crew, he insisted that serious combat is going on against corruption.
Usurpers have put in place all efforts to grip lands belonging to the Ministry of Defense, but prevented, he noted.
He emphasized that the ministry exert utmost efforts to reach weapons, equipment and food to the soldiers on time.
Minister of Interior Taj Mohammad Jahid, while confirming security threats across the country, said that most of the areas are under control of Afghan forces.
He said that although police forces duty is controlling of public order, but they involved fighting against terrorists.
He said that police formation and weapons are only fit for controlling public order not for fighting against terrorism.
Minister said that assessment drive is completed about 80 percent regarding ghost policemen and their weapons in different district of the provinces across the country.
He also insisted that fighting corruption is on top agenda of the ministry of interior.
Head of National Directorate of Security Masoom Stanikzai said that investigation progressed well regarding military hospital.
He said that we found clue to recognize perpetrators linked to the attack over military hospital within two weeks.
He said that Afghan forces are in war with 20 different terrorist network, which all support by number of region countries.
Beside external issues, we faced to internal tribal, region and political issues, so it is required of all Afghan to be united to defeat enemies, he mentioned.
It is pertained to mention that five bombers had attacked Saradar Dawod Khan military hospital March 8, resulted at killing of 50 people and wounding of dozens others including military and civilian staffs of the hospital in Kabul capital.
