AT News Report-KABUL: An International Campaign titled “Women for Change” has been kicked off on Sunday to foster women’s role in different aspects of the society and politics.
This campaign has been initiated by Humanitarian Assistance for Women and Children of Afghanistan (HAWCA), Civil Society and Human Rights Network (CSHRN), Afghanistan Human Rights Action and Mobilization (AHRAM), COSPE and the European Union.
“This campaign has been set off to boost up women’s participation in different political and social aspects in the country,” Director of HAWCA, Najia Akrami said.
She added “through this we would call on the government and other related organs including international community to run projects to empower women” across the country.
“The main focus would be laid down over women education and economic empowerment in the country.”
Expressing grievance over symbolic and improper projects for women in the past years, she said, “government and relevant organs must have clear intention as well as implement fundamental projects for improving of women throughout the country.
Still women and girls are not safe in different part of the country particularly in remote district and they can’t go school, so government must put on top agenda protecting of women and girls across the country, he added.
Another women’s activist Sina Hawa said that women’s challenges and violence against them increased day by day across the country, so this campaign run to compel relevant organs to support women in capital and provinces throughout the country.
She said that aforementioned organizer will exert utmost efforts to reach voice of voiceless women to the government of Afghanistan as well as European community in order to find solution.
