AT-KABUL: Counter Narcotics Police (CNP) has arrested 18 drug runners in the past one week, security officials said on Monday.
“Eighteen drug smugglers were apprehended by CNP through different crackdown and were handed over to Criminal Justice Task Force (CJTF) for further criminal proceedings,” CJTF said in a statement.
It added that the investigation would carry out by the CNP, after examining the evidences and arguments from both sides, prosecution process would be held on them.
“These smugglers were arrested from Kabul, Nangarhar and Baghlan provinces.”
One woman was also among those arrested in drug charges, the statement added.
Some 9kg of heroin, 10kg morphine, 651kg hashish and 184 liters of alcoholic beverages discovered and confiscated from the possession of abovementioned smugglers, the statement furthered.
All the convicted drug traffickers would have defense attorneys for their legal defense during court trail, the statement noted.
