History praises Pashtuns for their hospitality, peace loving, and human-friendly nature
AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The Chief of Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PKMAP), Mahmood Khan Achakzai has called on the international community that Pashtuns are not terrorists by origin and culture and had no links with terrorism and religious fundamentalism in the past.
Addressing a gathering to celebrate the century foundation of Jamiat-Ulema-e-Islam (F) in Nowshera district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he said, “time has arrived for Pashtuns to stand like rock against all the terrorism-related misperceptions posed by the enemies.”
“Give me a single reference where Pashtuns are described as terrorists and hardliners, but I can quote tens of books as reference which praised Pashtuns for their hospitality, human and peace loving nature,” he added.
Pashtun areas in Pakistan had been converted into a dump of explosives through a conspiracy, he said, adding, “we should unite and collectively work for foiling such conspiracies.”
Moreover, he said, “we want to live in a peaceful environment, but unfortunately, terrorism had been imposed on Pashtun land and people under a pre-planned conspiracy.” He further went on saying that war on terror should be ended in Afghanistan in nearest time, and if reluctant made, the whole region would burn in the fire of terrorism. Achakzai pointed out that everyone has his own theory and opinion regarding terrorism.
“During the Soviet invasion in Afghanistan, all countries including United States, United Kingdom, Japan, Arab world and non-Arab countries even China as communist state have joined hands to support the holy war of Mujahedeen against Russian Red Army,” he said, adding that spy agency of Pakistan was in charge of distributing weapon and money to them in that time,” he added.
After the US invasion, when Taliban regime was toppled, armed militants fled to the neighboring country, he said, while giving a veiled reference to Pakistan. “Now, the question is that which country has been supporting the terrorist groups to stand on their feet once again and trample Pashtuns.”
He said bloody war on Afghanistan has been imposed for the last several decades which gave space to the opponents and enemies to spread and advocate false perceptions against the Lar o Bar Afghans. Lar o Bar Afghans are those people living in Afghanistan and also in other side of the Durand Line.
He called on the leadership of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) to strengthen their shoulders in struggle to over throw the wrong perceptions against Pashtuns and do advocacy for peace-loving nation.
The Pashtun nationalist leader said that the blood of innocent Pashtuns was being traded without any reason. “More than hundred thousand Pashtuns have been killed in FATA, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Baluchistan and other parts of Pakistan for the last four decades, and still they are losing lives.”
Achakzai is a popular Pashtun nationalist leader who faced harsh criticism in Pakistan by saying that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) belongs to Afghans and they can live there without any fear and irritation. “If Afghans are harassed in other parts of Pakistan, they should come here to the KP province where no one could ask them for refugee cards, because it also belongs to them.”
Moreover, shading light on the burning issues and problems of Pashtuns, living on both sides of the Durand Line a month ago he said, “International Pashtun Conference” is needed to have a result-oriented debate and decisions over the problems being faced by the Pashtuns.
Achakzai is the prominent Pashtun leader who thoroughly opposes and voices against merger of FATA with any part of Pakistan.
