AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The Afghan security forces have inflicted heavy casualties to the Taliban insurgents, announcing clearing of 17 villages of the Shah Joy district of southern Zabul province from the presence of militants, officials said.
The villages were cleared in the district during a clearing operation codenamed “Khalid”, said Gul Islam Seyal, the provincial governor’s spokesman.
“22 insurgents were killed and 17 others wounded and a machine gun belonging to the Taliban insurgents was destroyed during the operation,” Seyal told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He furthered that the offensive have been resulted into clearing of 17 big and small villages of militant’s presence and currently the areas are under security force’s control.
Moreover, he informed of casualties, saying that one policeman was killed and one ANA soldier and two civilians received injuries in the offensive. However, the militant have said nothing about the operation yet.
