AT-KABUL: The Afghan security forces have evicted insurgents from Taywara district of western Ghor province, after the Taliban had overrun it recently, officials said on Thursday.
“Afghan commando forces started retaken operation on Thursday early morning, and recaptured Taywara district after five days of being under control of the Taliban insurgents,” Spokesman for the Ministry of Defense, General Dawlat Waziri said.
He also informed of on an ongoing military operation in some part of the district to completely clear Taliban from the district.
Provincial Governor Spokesman, Abdulhai Khatebi, said that the operation have been kicked off at 5:00am to retake the district, and still it is going on in some part of the district.
Taliban had raided Taywara district on Saturday night and captured the district early Sunday. After being out of control for five days, fortunately, the Afghan forces regain control of the district today (Thursday).
It is worth mentioning that the Taliban insurgents opened fire on civilian, patients and doctors after capturing Taywara district and killed dozens of civilians in the district. District hospital building along other civilian properties was also torched by the insurgents.
