AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: At least eleven Taliban militants were killed and five police personnel sustained injuries as a result of violent fierce in the Barmal district of southern Paktika province, an official said on Saturday.
Acting Police Chief Dadullah Khan Hotak told Pajhwok Afghan News the Taliban launched an offensive against a police convoy on Friday night in the Tangi locality.
He said the police force responded the militant’s offensive very aggressively and at the end of the clash police was succeeded to capture two vehicles and several motorcycles belonging to the Taliban.
Moreover, Javed, a local of Sarobi district, said dead bodies and wounded individuals of Tangi shifted to a clinic in Sarobai district, adding among the dead were two police personnel but he was reluctant to provide more details.
The Taliban has confirmed the Paktika clash. The group’s spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid claimed 11 policemen were killed, five arrested, and five military tanks destroyed in the overnight clash.
Mujahid did not provide further and accurate information about the Taliban casualties.
