AT-KABUL: Former President, Hamid Karzai “strongly” condemned Tuesday’s terrorist attack on the Jawadiya mosque in Herat province, calling it “against all Islamic values”.
Two terrorists stormed the Jawadiya mosque packed with around 300 people during the evening prayers time. One terrorist started shooting the prayers and the second one detonated his explosives after a few minutes, killing more than 30 people and wounding dozens more.
The former president was quoted by a statement as saying that the attack was part of the efforts by the enemies of peace and stability in Afghanistan to make sectarian rift and destabilize the country.
“We must be aware and know that such attacks are carried out by the order of the aliens for their interests,” Karzai said, calling on the people to work wisely more than any time in the past to strengthen the unity and do not let the enemies reach their goals.
He wished paradise for the martyrs, patience for the dear ones and quick recovery for the injured.
