AT-KABUL: Two U.S. soldiers were killed and four others wounded after their convoy attacked by the Taliban insurgents in southern Kandahar province, foreign official said.
Through a media statement on Thursday, the Resolute Support Mission confirmed that two U.S. soldiers were killed and four others wounded in an attack on a NATO convoy in Kandahar province Wednesday afternoon.
The four wounded soldiers are receiving treatment at a coalition medical facility. Their wounds are not considered life threatening, the statement added.
“On behalf of the men and women of the Resolute Support Mission, I offer our deepest condolences to the families of our fallen comrades,” said General John Nicholson, Commander of Resolute Support Mission. “These soldiers gave their lives in service of a mission that is critically important to the United States, our allies and partners. We will honor their sacrifice with our dedication to protect our homeland and complete the mission for which they sacrificed.”
Next of kin notification has been completed. More information will be released as appropriate, the statement added.
