AT-KABUL: The Ministry of Urban Development and Housing (MUDH) has announced progress in sketching the new master plan of Kabul city which would change the view of the majority parts of the capital city.
The ministry spokeswoman, Nilofar Langar formally announced the progress regarding the new master plan during a press conference here in Kabul today.
She said the initial work for sketching the new master plan has been finished up to 30 per cent and further work is in progress.
She added the construction of new building for various government departments in Dar-ul-Aman are also a main part of the new master plan for the capital city.
She further went on saying the government would prevent the construction of tall apartments in the vicinity of the Dar-ul-Aman and would allow such buildings up to two kilometers away from the specified area.
The contract of master plan for the design of the new governmental buildings in Dar-ul-Aman area was signed between an Arabic firm and the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing and in mid-June this year.
The said firm, Khatib and Alami, would cooperate with the Ministry of Urban Development and Housing in assessment of the previous design, designing of the new complex and preparation of the master plan for the complex.
It comes at a time when the capital city is over loaded from the unprecedented influx in migration of the residents from the other parts of the country as well as refugees from the neighboring countries since the ouster of Taliban regime in 2001.
Government efforts are underway to provide other facilities to the residents of the capital as the construction of metro bus services and project of pure water supply have been initiated.
However, the residents of the city are repeatedly demanding war footed attention and meaningful efforts of the government regarding drainage system, traffic signals on roads and plantation across the city.
