AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: During his official visit to western Herat province, President Ashraf Ghani highlighted importance of water management and issued orders to the security forces to put all efforts on cards for protection of dams, reported by 1TV News.
Addressing a high level security meeting at the 207th Army corps, Ashraf Ghani emphasized on the security of water dams in the country and called on the security and defense wings to exert utmost efforts in this regard.
During the meeting, Ghani addressed the complaints of the public regarding insecurity in Herat province and stressed for result-oriented assessment of the security situations and called for sharing the result with the public.
Basically Ashraf Ghani visit to Herat was based on condolence with the families of deadly mosque bombing victims that claimed 30 dead and 64 injured.
Herat is strategically important province, bordering Iran and holding one the country’s major Salma Dam which was inaugurated last year and the kind support of India, time-tested friend of Afghanistan.
However, the ongoing wave of terrorism and insecurity have caused to create obstacles in the smooth construction of Salma dam and other developmental projects which needs proper attention and winning and war footed strategy to be adopted by the government in a bid to complete the construction of not only Salma dam but Kajaki dam in Nimroz as well.
