AT-KABUL: The Afghanistan Civil Aviation Authority has announced the installation of a new radar system in order to enhance the air control capacity of the civil aviation.
The General Director of the Civil Aviation Authority Mahmood Shah Habibi formally told publically regarding new plans during a press conference here in Kabul today.
He said the newly initiated system would be installed with a total cost of 24 million Euros and termed it one of the latest systems being used in the modern countries of the world.
He added the new modern system would enable the Civil Aviation Authority to control the air space in a required manner.
Moreover, Habibi furthered, the installation of the latest system would provide an opportunity to boost up investments in the aviation sector and establishment of the new airlines and that would ultimately result in reducing the cost by boosting the capacity of the civil aviation authority.
He pointed out the Afghan government has taken the initiative to strengthen the civil aviation authority in controlling the civil airspace after the NATO-led coalition forces handed over the responsibility to them in 2015.
Habibi also disclosed that per year maintenance cost of the new radar system would be around 9 million Euros.
A launching ceremony was also organized in ARG Presidential Palace for the signing the contract of the new radar system.
