AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The Afghan security forces have shot dead two would-be suicide bombers in the Taqab district of central Kapisa province, a military statement said on Tuesday.
The 201st Selab Military Cops said that the suicide attackers on motorcycles wanted to target security forces in the district on Monday evening. They were gunned down by Afghan soldiers and their suicide vest also went off, the statement added.
Confirming the incident, provincial police spokesman, Mohammad Ayub Yousafzai said the incident took place in Ahmadzai area of Tagab. “The rebels planned to target Afghan Local Police (ALP) personnel but were killed before they could executive their plan.”
Separately, but in the same district, four other militants were killed in a clash with security force. The Taliban insurgents have not commented into the matter yet.
This comes as recently National Directorate of Security (NDS) during an operation detained a suspected along with his guide in western Herat province. The provincial governor spokesperson said NDS personnel took into custody the suicide attacker along with is guide in 11th police district of Nawabad area. He said the NDS operatives also recovered some explosive materials and evidence from the detainees.
According to preliminary interrogations, the arrested culprits were destined to carry out terrorist attack against civilians, but they were detained before to execute their plan.
The arrest takes place one week after two suicide bombers entered into the Jawadia mosque in Herat city where they carried out suicides, resulted into killing and wounding nearly 100 worshippers.
