KABUL: Clearing operation of the Afghan security forces has entered its second day on Friday with killing of at least 15 Taliban insurgents in the Gomal district of southeastern Paktika province, an official said. Foreign fighters were among those Taliban insurgents killed in the offensive. Scores of militants were also wounded during the two days of the ongoing operation, Afghan National Army’s sixth battalion commander in Paktiak, Col. Mohammad Ayub, told Pajhwok Afghan News. He added that dead militants including some Pakistanis and others. “The joint Afghan forces were trying to reach the district center today (Friday) but their advance had been slow due to landmines on the roads.” Meanwhile, Border Police Commander in Paktika, Raz Mohammad said several areas had so far been cleared for militants as a result of the operation, which he said was moving fast. The Taliban have said nothing about the operation in Gomal district, but they had a day claimed killing four ANA soldiers, including an officer, in a roadside bomb attack in Khoshamand district.
