This day celebrates worldwide, Afghanistan also celebrate this to give more power and responsibility to young Afghans. Without doubt, youth’s role in pushing a nation toward peace and development is a must, and very much significant. At real scene, they are the agent of change. Young people’s inclusion in the peace and security agenda and in society more broadly, is a key to building and sustaining peace, especially in a country like Afghanistan. We should not forget that youth can play important role in deterring and resolving conflicts, and are key constituents in ensuring the success of both peacekeeping and peace building efforts. Afghan youth have suffered a lot during four decades of war and bloodshed. Still, not only youth, but even children and women are bearing the brunt of casualties. However, the plus point is that despite too many miseries, nothing stopped Afghan education lovers from pursing education. Through tough circumstance, the Afghan youth attended schools and universities, at purpose of making Afghanistan via power of pen and book. We should bear in mind that sustainable development cannot be realized without education. Of course, peace and security is a must. It’s important to realize that why this day was recognized. And what is the goal. Definitely the aim is and had been to ensure responsive, inclusive, participatory and representative decision-making at all levels. Also to provide a policy framework and practical guidelines to improve the situation of young people, also encourages promoting the active involvement of youth in maintaining peace and security. Afghans comprehends the power of youths to help shape a fairer and a peaceful Afghanistan. That’s why President Ghani celebrated International Youth Day, promising more participation of youths in the government. He also assured to deal with unemployment, saying 5,000 civil service vacancies will be announced in coming week. The most important saying was when President Ghani told youths that he invested much of his political asset on bringing them to the administration. Moreover, he called for unity to end crisis, questioning what is the result of 40-year of division. He said many good things to encourage youths. But time of empty promises ended. What President has to do is to translate its words into action. Afghanistan is in deep trouble, fighting has been increasing, economy is in fragile situation, and corruption is still here, so the government is dealing with plenty of uncertainty. But despite that, the Afghan you can turn challenges into opportunities. Youths should not forget that Afghanistan is in need of so much from them, and the youth is a fountain of rescues, brimming with enthusiasm, energy and ideas. Dedication and hard work of youth with support of the government, one day will bear fruits of peace and stability forever.
