AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: The Taliban insurgents attack on the Khashrod district of southwestern Nimroz province have been repulsed by the Afghan security forces, officials said on Sunday.
The District Administrative Chief, Muhammad Hashim Noorzai, told Pajhwok Afghan News a huge number of Taliban insurgents launched an attack on the district from several parts on Saturday night, but were repelled.
The Deputy Police Chief, Col Mohammad Saleh Massod, confirmed the attack, saying the ensuing clash lasted several hours, and the rebels were pushed back from the area.
“Four militants were killed and a number of others wounded as two Humvee vehicles and a machinegun were seized by the security forces,” he said, adding the security forces suffered no casualties.
Nimroz is one of the insecure provinces in southwestern of Afghanistan.
