AT-KABUL: The parliament accused the government of not being transparent in collecting the mobile phone pay taxes, saying the taxes are being collected in un-standard system for two years.
Millions of the mobile phone users pay 10 percent from the chargeable cards as taxes, and the government is reportedly refusing to answer the parliament about the tax that has been collected since 2015.
Nasima Neyazi, a member of the parliament claims that the tax is poured to the pockets of a number of government officials.
But the ministry of communication and information technology says the process is transparent, adding that so far, more than eight billion Afs have been collected.
30 million SIM cards have been sold by telecommunication companies, that according to the ministry of communication, 24 million of them are active now.
