AT-KABUL: At least 13 people most of them security forces were killed, and 19 others wounded in a car bomb attack in southern Helmand province on Monday late evening, said officials.
“A car bomber rammed to the army convoy yesterday evening in Do-Pula area of Nawa district, which resulted into death of 13 people, mostly security forces, and wounding of 19 others,” said provincial spokesman, Omar Zwak.
He said that the wounded people have been shifted to hospital and inquiry started over the incident.
Another official who denied to be named said that mostly army personal were among killed and wounded people.
Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack in Nawa district of Helmand, and the group’s spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid in Telegram said that a Taliban fighter targeted the convoy in Nawa district, which incurred heavy casualties to the army.
Taliban also claimed that number of armored vehicle of army destroyed in the incident as well.
Nawa is one of the most volatile districts of Helmand, which have been cleared from Taliban recently.
