Editorial: Violence must stop

The government of Afghanistan in a statement, and the Afghan masses through social media reacted to the ongoing violence against Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar, labeling it as an act of genocide against Muslim minority. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) has strongly condemned killing of Muslim minority by Myanmar military and said it was an act of ‘genocide’. The ministry said that military was committing crimes against humanity, calling on the United Nations to investigate the situation. This atrocity is not something new. It has been there for several years. It is a heart-breaking when see our brothers and sister are brutally be killing there. The killing of human, irrespective of Muslim or none, is an absolutely a shameful act that must be stopped. Clicking to the social media, one can get clear image that Myanmar Muslims are going through toughest time of their life as human disaster is unfolding there. More than 120,000 Rohingya people have fled for Bangladesh in the past two weeks after a rise in violence against the Muslim minority, according to the United Nations. The situation raised fears of a humanitarian crisis in overstretched border camps, with another 400,000 stateless Rohingya people estimated to be trapped in conflict zones in western Myanmar since more clearing operations by security forces in Rakhine state began last month. UN aid agencies continue to be blocked from delivering food, water and medicine to the Rohingya, while humanitarian workers on the ground say warehouses stocking vital emergency supplies are being looted, UN reported. It is also reported that in recent weeks, nearly 400 Muslims including women and children have been killed in Myanmar military operation. Though it is late, but thanks to the Afghan government and the United Nations that spoke about the issue, asking international community to make efforts to stop Muslims genocide. Indeed, it is a crime against humanity. In an immediate step, the United Nations should issue a declaration asking Myanmar military to stop Muslim massacres; otherwise, diplomatic channels should be used at first place, and if not stopped, military action have to be adopted. Myanmar’s State Counselor, Aung San Suu Kyi, who is also Nobel winner, must take urgent steps to resolve the issue of humanitarian crisis engulfed in Rakhine state. She won Nobel peace prize, but failed to maintain peace for her own people. She seems reluctant to put a full stop to Muslim massacre, that’s why she tight up her lip, saying no words so far. If she did not stop killing of innocent Muslim minority, she has to return her Nobel Peace Prize, as she don’t worthy of it anymore. At the same time, despite other countries, Islamic states have to come up to the fore in defend of Myanmar Muslim minority, even warn of military action if not resolved.
