AT-KABUL: The government of Australia donated two million dollars to the Ministry of Agriculture Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) with the aim of boosting agricultural products in six north provinces.
The agreement of the donation was signed between MAIL officials and representative of the Australian embassy on Wednesday.
According to a statement issued by MAIL, this will help the ministry to implement the agriculture strategy in Balkh, Sar-e-Pul, Jawzjan, Faryab, Baghlan, Samangan northern provinces.
The new strategy will be implemented within next two years in cooperation with the farmers in the provinces, added statement.
Statement said that the donation will be spent over dry area over agriculture investigation and development in the provinces.
Though this program farmers will be trained in different fields as well, noted statement.
This is the first time that the Australia donation channels through Ministry of Finance to the MAIL.
Implementation of MAIL strategy in dry lands is the most important part of the ministry activities, which needs $20 million to be implemented in different provinces through the country.
