AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Six police officers were killed in a Taliban attack on their outpost in the northwestern province of Badghis, while the gorup’s militants took two officers hostage, local officials said on Saturday.
The police check-post was installed on the Qala-i-Naw-Herat highway in the Laman area of the provincial capital, Mohammad Qasem, police officer of another post in the areas, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said the insurgents carried out offensive against the Public Order Police post at midnight, adding, the destroyed the post, which resulted in killing of six police personnel and kidnapped two others.
He further went on saying that the security forces have recaptured the post early in the morning.
Moreover, Mohammad Fareed Akhizai, deputy head of the provincial council, confirmed the Taliban’s offensive against the checkpoint and the police casualties.
