AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: Eight police personnel and six Taliban militants have been killed during an hours-long fierce clash in Deh Yak district of southern Ghazni province, an official said on Sunday.
Provincial Police Spokesperson, Fahim Amarkhel told Pajhwok Afghan News the violent clash erupted on Saturday night when insurgents launched an offensive against an Afghan Local Police check-post in Rabt area of the district.
In the clash eight policemen and six insurgents have been killed and four police personnel and a large number of Taliban militants were wounded as the gun battle stretched into Sunday morning.
On the other hand, Zabihullah Mujahid, a Taliban spokesman, claimed the militants have overrun a police check-post where they killed 10 policemen and only one their fighter sustained injuries.
