AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: At least 30 Taliban militants have been killed, and 15 others sustained injuries in the ongoing military offensive in central Uruzgan province, an official said on Monday.
Police Chief Brig. Gen. Rahmatullah Siddiqi told Pajhwok Afghan New the Taliban’s offensive in Chora district was strongly retaliated and repulsed by the security forces, and a clearing operation in the area was underway.
Gen. Siddiqi said 30 insurgents, including some of their notorious commanders have been killed and 15 others wounded during the air-and-ground operation conducted in Niazi and Kalaragh areas late on Sunday night.
He added the dead bodies of some slain insurgents were still lying at the site, adding, the Chora district was out of threat to collapse as the militants have vacated the areas, he claimed.
However, he did not made public information regarding casualties sustained to the security forces.
Moreover, District Chief, Aminullah Khaliqi said the government has upper hand and situations in area have been improved as a result of air-and-ground operations.
On the other hand, the Taliban insurgents claimed control over more areas and killing of 26 security personnel.
