AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: More than 400 Taliban insurgents have been killed in different operations in the past three months in Helmand province, local official said on Sunday.
In addition to that, 65 other insurgents have been received injures and 150 militants detained.
The Afghan security forces have conducted military operations in different parts of the province including the provincial capital Lashkargah city, Naw, Nahr-e-Siraj, and that military operations are currently ongoing in Nad Ali district of the province, provincial governor Hayatullah Hayat said.
“The Taliban are not capable anymore to face the security forces in the province,” Hayat said, adding that “if the Taliban does not join the peace process, the group will be destroyed by the security forces.”
However, he did not provide further details.
This comes after hundreds of foreign troops have been deployed to the province to support the Afghan security forces in fighting the insurgents. Air support is also being provided.
