AT-KABUL: Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Tuesday said that several villages were cleared from Taliban militants during Afghan forces operations in the Nad Ali district of southern Helmand province.
“Afghan National Police, Afghan National Army and NDS forces carried out a joint clearance operation to clear some of the areas from terrorists and enemies of peace and stability in Helmand province,” said a press statement issued by MoI.
Statement said that the operation carried out in Nad Ali district, southern Helmand province, which as a result, five armed Taliban were killed and several villages of Nad Ali district cleared of armed Taliban.
Three different types of weapons, 45 roadside bombs and some amount of ammunition were also seized during the operation, added the statement.
The security operation still continues in insecure villages of Nad Ali district, mentioned statement.
The Afghan National Defense and Security Forces have stepped up Counter-Terrorism operations to suppress the insurgency activities of the terror groups, concluded the statement.
