AT-KABUL: The National Medicine and Healthcare Products Regulatory Authority (NMHPRA) said Saturday about the start of a campaign to fight against smuggling of medicine to the country.
NMHPRA has started a campaign in Kabul today to collect the smuggled and fake medicine from the markets, said a press statement issued by the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH).
Statement said that this campaign will be continued for 12 weeks in Kabul and later it will be expanded to the provinces.
This campaign is completely different from the observation campaign has been running by MoPH in the past and it will be continued till the smuggled medicine completely collected from the market, added statement.
Statement said that the campaign also discussed and identified reasons behind smuggling of medicine and work over collecting is going on in coordination with private sector.
The strategy against smuggling and fake and low quality medicine will enable the NMHPRA to ensure the people from quality, efficiency and proper price of the medicine in the market, mentioned the statement.
Statement said that besides controlling of medicine market the NMHPRA observed the documents of the medicine producing factories in the past three months.
Statement said that the license of 817 factories out of 1193 factories suspended due to lack of obey from regulation.
One month respite has been given to the abovementioned factories to set their activity and documents accordance to regulation, otherwise their license will be cancelled for ever, highlighted the statement.
Also 113 foreign producing medicine companies which were not registered in NMHPRA and have exported medicine illegally to Afghanistan was announced illegal and its list was shared with relevant institutions, noted statement.
Statement said that NMHPRA also has established checklists and databases in order to collect figures.
The NMHPRA also has established a website to boost up people awareness about medicine quality and its prices in the market, underlined the statement.
